Day 1 - International Outbound Flight to Rome
Start this stunning tour of Tuscany with your outbound flight to Rome.
Enjoy exploring the city until the evening welcome meeting, where you will get to meet your leader and fellow travellers, opt to join them for a meal afterward. Perhaps you’ll visit the colosseum, the immense amphitheatre that was built on a former artificial lake, part of Nero’s huge park in the city centre, enjoy a leisurely coffee in one of the cafés near the Trevi Fountain, a great spot for people-watching, or perhaps the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, the basic fabric of the church is c5th augmented by a number of restorations and expansions over the centuries.

Day 2 – Rome - San Gimignano
This morning, enjoy an orientation walk in Rome, before transferring by train, taking in the beautiful scenery on the journey of around 2.5 hours, followed by a 30-minute bus trip to San Gimignano and walk to your home for the week, which is located just outside the beautiful medieval hill town of San Gimignano. The owner is a San Gimignano native and is a fountain of information about the area. He lives in one of the apartments in his remodelled medieval house. Take a short orientation stroll taking around 30 mins to1 hour with you're guide for the first glance at San Gimignano. They will share tips on finding things like supermarkets, main squares, and ATMs. For more specific or in-depth information, an official guided tour is recommended.

Day 3 - San Gimignano
This morning, enjoy a walk around San Gimignano's medieval walls dating back to the 13th century and enjoy sweeping views both outside the walls and down little backstreets within the town. Choose to walk all 7km (4.3 mi) or do as much of it as you wish. This afternoon, enjoy the half-day cookery class, where you will expand your culinary skills, learning how to prepare typical Tuscan dishes, and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Day 4 - San Gimignano
Today enjoy a day trip to nearby Siena and wander this medieval walled city. Enjoy a short orientation walk before choosing what you will do next, there are so many options available here, visit the gorgeous Duomo and the Piazza del Campo, where the famous Palio horse race is held each summer. Climb the Torre del Mangia for fantastic views of the Tuscan landscape.
This evening, enjoy dinner prepared by your host. Sit back, relax, and take in the aromas and flavours of delicious Italian home-cooking.

Day 5 - San Gimignano
Enjoy free time to visit the San Gimignano market in the morning before a leisurely walk through the Tuscan countryside along the historical Via Francigena path to Montauto, where great views of San Gimignano from afar await, the walk of 12km takes around 2.5 – 3hrs. In the evening, enjoy a tasting of some local wines.
The Via Francigena, a historical path in use approximately 1,000 years ago by those making pilgrimage between Canterbury, England, and Rome, runs very close to your hotel. It is a great path for those who wish to explore the Tuscan countryside on foot.
Take the ancient Via Francigena path, which passes alongside our accommodation, and walk through some woods, across a stream, and then through vineyards up to Montauto, which offers outstanding views of San Gimignano. Head back down the hill and along a country road. This evening, sample some of the Tuscan renowned local wine varieties (provided by our host) upon returning to the rustic farmhouse for the night.

Day 6 - Florence
Today enjoy a trip to Florence with plenty of free time to check out local museums and plazas. Taking a short 30minute bus trip before the 1.5 – 2hour train journey to Florence, looking out at the stunning views along the way. Once back you may opt to go out for a final group dinner back in San Gimignano or cook together at the apartments.

Day 7 - San Gimignano – Rome – Inbound flight to the UK.
Enjoy the final breakfast before transferring the short 30minute bus trip then train back to Rome where you will depart for your return flight to the UK.
